Message from President Susan Hockfield

To Members of the MIT Community:

Susan Hockfield, President

Harassing behavior, including sexual harassment, is not new at colleges and universities or anywhere else in society, for that matter. Over the years at MIT, we have developed policies, programs, and resources to help prevent harassment and, when it occurs, to improve the way we deal with it. I believe we have made progress, but our job is far from done.

The interactive program, Preventing Sexual Harassment, is another way for all members of the MIT community — faculty, staff, and students — to gain a better understanding of what constitutes sexual harassment and what kinds of actions might be taken to prevent or handle problem situations.

This program is part of our ongoing effort to foster civility and mutual respect and to create an environment where everyone pursues his or her studies and work unhindered.

Sincerely,

Susan Hockfield, President
