Message from the Director

To All EDD Employees:

Patrick W. Henning, Director

Welcome to the EDD online Sexual Harassment Prevention Training course.

EDD is committed to providing a work environment in which every person is treated with dignity and respect and is able to function in a workplace free from harassment and discrimination of any kind. Both supervisors and employees share in the responsibility of creating and maintaining a harassment-free work environment.

Zero tolerance is our mandate!

Sexual harassment is a serious workplace issue. This training is designed to help educate you on your rights and responsibilities in recognizing, preventing, and resolving incidents of sexual harassment. Although this training primarily addresses sexual harassment, the principles it teaches apply to all forms of discriminatory harassment based on an employee’s race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, physical or mental disability, religious or political affiliation, and sexual orientation. Incidents of harassment by employees, managers, contractors, vendors, or customers will not be tolerated and should be promptly reported, as outlined in this training.

EDD expects that upon completion of this training, each participant is informed and committed to adhering to the EDD anti-harassment policy.

Recent changes to California law (Assembly Bill 1825) requires all managers and supervisors to take Sexual Harassment Prevention training by January 1, 2006, and every two years thereafter. However, this training is available and accessible to all EDD employees.

We hope that you find this training to be an informative and positive learning experience. Thank you for your participation and for doing your part in maintaining EDD’s work environment free from sexual harassment and discrimination. If you have any questions on any harassment issues, please contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Office at (916) 654-8434.
