Message from the Chief Deputy Director

To: All EDD Employees:

Welcome to the EDD online Sexual Harassment Prevention Training course.

Beginning January 1, 2006, California law (Assembly Bill 1825) requires all managers and supervisors to complete Sexual Harassment Prevention training every two years. However, EDD is committed to providing a work environment in which every person is treated with dignity and respect--and free from discrimination of any kind-therefore, this online training is available and accessible to all EDD employees.

While this training primarily addresses sexual harassment, the principles it teaches apply to all forms of discriminatory harassment based on an employee's race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, gender, age, physical or mental disability, religious or political affiliation, and sexual orientation.

The Sexual Harassment Prevention Training course is designed to help educate you on your rights and responsibilities in recognizing, preventing, and resolving incidents of sexual harassment. Discriminatory harassment by employees, managers, contractors, vendors, or customers will not be tolerated and should be promptly reported.

Upon completion of this training, EDD expects that each participant is informed and committed to adhering to the EDD anti-harassment policy.

Sexual harassment is a serious workplace issue and creating and maintaining a harassment-free work environment is the shared responsibility of supervisors and employees. I hope that it is an informative and positive learning experience and thank you for doing your part in maintaining EDD's work environment free from sexual harassment and discrimination.

If you have any questions concerning any discriminatory harassment issues, please contact the Equal Employment Opportunity Office at (916) 654 8434.
