Message from Chancellor John Pickelman, PhD
As Chancellor, I welcome this opportunity to reaffirm North Harris Montgomery Community College District’s commitment to maintaining an employment and academic environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, intimidation, harassment, including sexual harassment, or retaliation.
We have established employee accountability for ethical behavior in the following relevant areas:
- Each employee should expect that they will be treated with respect;
- Each employee must take responsibility to treat colleagues with respect;
- Each employee should expect a work environment that is free of discrimination and harassment;
- Each employee must take responsibility for the creation of a positive and constructive environment;
- Each employee should expect fair and professional treatment from those in authority;
- Each employee must take responsibility for the judicious use of power vested in our positions;
- Each employee should expect that their colleagues will obey the applicable civil rights statues and policies; and
- Each employee must take responsibility to actively comply with the laws and policies with respect to fair employment practices.
Harassment and discrimination may take various forms. Please be advised that none will be tolerated at our institution. In support of this commitment, we are providing these online programs designed to educate and raise the awareness of all employees about civil rights laws and what constitutes civil rights violations. It is our hope and expectation that all employees engage in the types of behavior that prevent and affirmatively resolve problem situations.
John Pickelman, PhD,
Chancellor
